Alba's Mediterranean Market & Bakery
248 Moody Street, Waltham - (781) 899-2149

Mediterranean Bakery/Store/Market
From Chris Vietor: It's a different sort of an eating establishment. They have prepared Albanian food to grab on the go, packaged foods, desserts and coffee. But what makes the place super special is their Greek-style yogurt made on site. Try the orange or coconut-honey flavors! They are to die for.

Antojito's Cafe
89 Moody Street, Waltham - (781) 893-1291

Mexican Cafe (open till 4)
From Chris Vietor: A hole-in-the wall taco joint serving up El Salvadorian and Mexican food. This place is not very expensive but all home cooking and very good service. Cash only.

Comedor
105 Union Street, Newton - (
857) 404-0260
American/Chilean Cuisine
From Chris Vietor: High ceilings, lots of energy, modern art and right in the heart of Newton Center. They specialize in servicing small dishes of Chilean Tapas. I recommend this place all the time to people looking for a good date night spot outside of the Boston. While I would consider myself generally someone who likes to order meat-based meals when I go out to dinner, I think the star plates at Comedor tend to be vegetarian. Which says a lot for their chefs. Menu changes seasonally.

Barry's Deli
6 Windsor Rd, Waban (Newton) - (617) 527-9773
N.Y. Style Deli

From Chris Vietor: Casual New York Style deli off Beacon Street in Waban. Best potato salad I have ever eaten. They serve a mean Reuben sandwich and some of the greatest corned beef hash known to all of mankind. This is where the locals hang out. They have a deli counter and also do catering which I highly recommend.

Cabot's Ice Cream & Restaurant
743 Washington St, Newton - (617) 964-9200
Ice Cream Parlor

From Chris Vietor: Diner and old-fashioned style ice cream parlor. Go there for the ice cream sundaes. The marshmallow and chocolate sauce spills over the top of the rim of the glass bowl. Every. Single. Time. Cash only.

Sweet Basil
942 Great Plain Ave, Needham - (781) 444-9600
Italian

From Chris Vietor: Italian dinners served on handmade potter made by the head chef and owner. I'm fairly confident that they bring out homemade bread and pesto for all customers right before being served your meal. The pesto was very memorable and so was the homemade pasta. During my last visit the place was super vibrant and a bit loud as James Brown was blasting from the speakers.

Cafe Fresh Bagel
896 Highland Avenue, Needham Heights - (781) 444-7444
