"There is no truer example of the saying "it takes a village" than here on Bertram Street. Our neighbors are more than neighbors; they are great friends. We look out for each other and we look out for each other's families. There have been many instances where my friends and neighbors have dropped everything to come to our aid. When our first was a newborn, a tree fell on our garage and hit the corner of our house. Our neighbors were at our front steps before I even understood what happened. They got the fire department there and got us out of the house until we were OK. They offered meals! When our second was born in the middle of the night, another neighbor was there to help with our first child. When we brought our children home, they organized over a week worth of meals! Everyone took turns. We have done the same when other families are going through a difficult time as well. When we bought our house, even then, I have no idea what a great community we brought ourselves into. The location can't be beat but the people are Bertram's biggest value! On any given day, winter or summer, you can find us all outside… sledding, biking, playing tag, helping to rip bushes out of each other's yards, helping to plant new bushes and each other's yard, driving each other's children to school, participating in block parties. Morning coffee play dates and evening cocktail delights! Bertram Street is a gem in Beverly!"
